When it comes to anime and manga, it's usual for the main character to possess superpowers. These characters would initially lose every battle before abruptly becoming unbeatable as they grew stronger. Another pattern is the wimpy main character who never makes decisions on their own but nonetheless manages to become more intriguing than before by adhering to the plot that requires development from them. Finally, some anime shows have a character that is so powerful that they win every combat with ease, making the other characters appear inept. But what gives the lead character an unfair advantage? If a character has overwhelming power relative to the other characters in the same anime, that character is said to be overpowered.
